OUR STORY

NOBODY WARNED US.

Menopause is a threshold every woman crosses. Most cross it alone, because nobody said out loud what was waiting on the other side. Emorata exists to end that silence. We made something you can wear that says it for you. I crossed. I know things now.

01 · THE CROSSING

IT IS A CROSSING, NOT AN ENDING.

The world treats menopause like a slow disappearance. We see a rite of passage. Our name comes from the strength and natural beauty that a woman exemplifies as the steps into her most powerful years. This is not a loss to manage. It is a passage to mark.

02 · THE GOLD

SOLID GOLD. MADE TO SHINE.

One intimate collection of solid-gold rings, each one made to mark the crossing. Gold, because, like you, it does not tarnish. A ring, because it is the oldest way humans have said this matters, this changes me. You wear it as a reminder of who you are when you are most you-- and you see it every time you look down.

03 · THE VOICES

THE STORIES STAY UNEDITED.

Next to every ring sits a real woman's story, in her own words, uncut. No shame, no soft focus, no tidy ending. Because the fastest way to break the silence is to let the women who crossed already speak to the women about to do so. You are not the first. You will not be the last. And you are never as alone as they let you believe.

04 · THE RESEARCH

PART OF EVERY RING FUNDS THE RESEARCH.

Women's health has been underfunded and under-studied for as long as the silence has lasted. A share of every sale goes to women's health research, and we publish that collective contribution every year, right here.

The jewelry breaks the silence. The funding fixes what the silence cost us.

Why I did this

Women are made to hide things about our bodies from the time we are born. Parents call our private parts by cutesy nicknames instead of the correct anatomical nomenclature. We get our menstrual cycle and spend the next 40 years worrying about hiding it or discreetly managing its effects. Then menopause rolls in and we suffer in silence because we have become adept at keeping things together, no matter what.

I looked forward to menopause because I figured it would end the monthly annoyance of my period. I had no ides that its arrival would literally make my body go haywire. Hot flashes, cold spells, trembling, racing heartbeats, unexplained pains, a feeling of disbelief and desperation. I honestly thought I might not be able to make it through this kind of biological cyclone. And then someone told me, "it's all about mindset. Think about how you can use these things as superpowers instead of achilles heels. Think about how you can use this experience to make you stronger."

I decided it was going to be a moment of truth. I needed to take more care of myself and less of others. I needed to do things because they mattered to me, not just to please others. And I needed to right the imbalance in the way women's bodies are regarded and their health is treated.

To do this, I wanted a daily reminder to hold fast to my truth. I wanted to wear a ring that showed my commitment to this radiant and exhilarating new version of myself. A way to immortalize and to protect my inner bloom.
